It’s never too early to start using retinol, also known as a type of over-the-counter (OTC) retinoid derived from vitamin A that has been found to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and large pores. . which is why i started implementing retinol into my skincare routine last year, and with this serum from murad’s resurgence line, i haven’t looked back.
Although I haven’t seen the dramatic results the brand promised (they claim that after 2 weeks of use, 93% of users saw a reduction in fine lines), I have noticed that my skin feels much smoother. I also have quite large pores, but I did notice that they appear a little smaller, although they are still noticeable.

If you are interested in purchasing this product, I suggest starting with the 1 ounce trial bottle, as the full size option is more expensive.
best cleaner
murad essential-c cleanser
if you are in the market to spend a little more money on a cleanser, i would say murad essential-c cleanser is a good choice. it is quite moisturizing, which can often be hard to find in a cleanser. however, thanks to the moisturizing ingredients found in the formula, the product is able to cleanse the skin without stripping it of all moisture.
murad claims it also includes ingredients that protect the skin from environmental stressors, as well as protect it from free radical damage. Even when using it regularly, I don’t necessarily feel like my skin has improved that much, but I haven’t experienced any breakouts, redness, or irritation either.
best sunscreen
murad oil and mattifying pore control broad spectrum spf 45
If you have oily skin, you should definitely try this sunscreen. (Also, if you have dry skin, this product is not for you.) This spf 45 feels really silky smooth when applied to the face and does the job of mattifying the pores. Better yet, it also didn’t clog my pores, so there were no signs of breakouts or trouble spots.
bonus: it’s a broad-spectrum sunscreen, which means it protects your face from both uva and uvb sun rays.
best scrub
murad aha/bha exfoliating cleanser

I tend to use an exfoliator 2-3 times a week so I don’t strip my skin of its natural oils too much. enter: murad’s aha/bha exfoliating cleanser which, despite having cleansing properties that gently remove dull skin cells, still manages to leave my face feeling soft and smooth after use.
although the formula contains super hydrating ingredients like jojoba beads and sodium pca, i definitely needed to apply a moisturizer and eye cream afterwards.
murad claims this scrub is particularly good for uneven textures, dark circles, and dark circles, but i didn’t really see any difference there. Also, like other murad products, this cleanser is $42 for 6.75 ounces. while it shouldn’t be used every day, it’s still a bit expensive for bi-weekly or tri-weekly use.
best moisturizer
murad clarifying water gel
I love this gel for the warmer months. It’s a non-comedogenic formula targeted at oily and acne-prone skin that’s truly great for morning skincare routines. i love the way it makes my skin feel hydrated and even a little glowy, and it feels great under my favorite sunscreen.
However, as someone who has oily skin but manages to get dry in the winter, this gel is not heavy enough to withstand colder weather. murad also says it can work as a nighttime moisturizer but the same thing happens to me. if your skin is not so dry, it may be a good option for you.
best toner
murad lightening toner
An often-overlooked skincare step, toner can provide deeper cleansing and exfoliation and support the rest of the products you apply in your regimen. Murad’s Clarifying Toner, in particular, works to combat oiliness and refresh and purify acne-prone skin.
In my experience, I’ve found that toners can be very drying and strip my naturally oily skin of essential moisture. While this product does its job, it does contain witch hazel (a natural ingredient that Native American populations have used for centuries for skin care ailments).

Although witch hazel may work for some people, it may not be helpful for those who have eczema, acne, or dryness. Since, the witch hazel in this toner is balanced with grape seed extract and vitamin e, both of which protect skin from free radical damage.
best serum
murad vita-c glycolic brightening serum
This product is certainly more expensive (it’s priced at around $80 for 1 ounce), but I’ll say it’s for good reason. i have been testing this serum for 2 weeks now and i have already seen a difference in the appearance of my skin. it feels smoother and looks more radiant and glowing.
I use it once a day in the morning under my moisturizer and sunscreen. The company notes that you may feel a slight tingling sensation on initial application, but in my experience, it’s nothing too noticeable. I especially enjoyed using this serum in the winter months when my skin feels especially dry and dull.
If you’re on the fence about this purchase, I’d recommend going for the trial size, which is priced at just under $30 for 10 milliliters (ml), to see if your skin reacts well. I wouldn’t call this a must-have otherwise, although it’s definitely a nice addition to my routine.
best peeling treatment
murad aha/bha daily clarifying peeling
Despite the scary-sounding name, this daily peel from murad is 100% safe and even promises to smooth the appearance of skin texture and pores with regular use. It is made of several ingredients, including retinoids, ahas, and bhas, that work together to gently clarify pores and stimulate cell renewal.
The mark directs users to apply this product with a cotton pad after cleansing. You should apply it to your face, neck, and décolletage without rinsing, and then follow with a moisturizer (you should also apply spf if you wear it during the day).
A whopping 97% of sephora shoppers recommend buying this clarifying peel and find it to be quite effective. some users with more sensitive skin cut back, using it 2-3 times a week, but still got great results.
