With over 32 million members, care .com is the industry giant. giving caregivers greater potential to find a job and giving families the best chance of finding a good caregiver for children, the disabled or the elderly.

However, the site does have some drawbacks, including the fact that it charges some sort of fee to everyone who uses it.

fees for caregivers

The site requires an annual background check fee of $15-17, depending on your location. also encourages caregivers to sign up for a premium membership that costs $9 per month or $24 semi-annually.

You do not need to get a premium membership to register as a sitter on the site. But if you don’t pay the membership fee, your ability to communicate with some potential employers is restricted. a premium membership also raises your profile on the site and provides job alerts, which can be an advantage with a site that has so many members.

Premium members also do not need to pay the background check fee. therefore, the net cost is relatively less, if you only maintain the premium membership for 6 months. you can sign up to be a sitter here. (click on “find a job” at the top of the page).

Family rates

Meanwhile, families must also pay a monthly or yearly subscription to speak with caregivers. in particular, families can post jobs for free. but, if they want to contact a caregiver to fill that position, they must pay a premium membership. these memberships are $155 per year or $39 per month. you can sign up to find sitters here.

automatic renewal

Know also that memberships, for caregivers and families, renew automatically. so if you don’t physically cancel, you’ll pay every month (or year) until you do. auto-renewal is by far the biggest complaint we see about this site.

find work or care

That being said, every business has to find a way to benefit and take care of itself. com does not collect commissions from workers’ wages. The reach of the site is also impressive, so your chances of finding a job here are good. you can also set your own rates. therefore, membership could be a profitable way to find a handful of regular customers. but remember to cancel your membership when you no longer need new clients. the site does not give refunds.

what your users are saying (in fact):

As you probably know, care.com is just a website that connects you with the family that best fits your needs. there are various pay rates, and a well-written bio can bring you great opportunities.

As a college student, I needed to find a flexible job that wasn’t too demanding and easy to handle. I found great families through care. com and it really helped me attend school. I learned a lot about babysitting: how to communicate expectations, negotiate, and care for a variety of ages.

careful. com is a great resource for finding work with kids, pets, and seniors. I was very lucky working outside of this site and was able to get several jobs.

wonderful families

careful. com has helped me meet some wonderful families that I have known for years. the only downside is making caregivers pay for a membership seems crazy.

I love the work I do with love. com. clients who need assistance with caring for loved ones or cleaning services are very friendly and professional. a typical month of work may vary, you may also work as a caretaker and housekeeper at the same time.

I have worked carefully for 3 years. It can be a good job if you want flexible hours and can set your own prices for the services you provide. the only drawback is having to pay a $20 monthly fee to maintain the premium. if you’re not premium, you won’t be able to talk to potential customers. I have also had difficulties using your payment system. in fact, they were still taking money from one of my client’s accounts. the client and i had to go to our own banks and tell them to stop letting care take money out of the client’s account. I have since told future clients to use a different way to pay me.
