Exposed Skin Care Review (2022 Update) | The Derm Detective

I tried exposed skin care over 8 years ago (2012) and posted a review on my old wordpress blog, honest acne reviews. the company is still in business today and the products have hardly changed since my last review.

what is exposed skin care?

if you’ve never heard of exposed ones before, they’re kind of proactive, but without the infomercials, mall kiosks, and celebrity endorsements.

exposed skin care is an online company based in seattle, usa. USA, which focuses on selling complete acne treatment kits with all the products you need for a comprehensive acne-fighting regimen.

basically, they make their own brand of cleansers, toners, active treatments and moisturizers – pack them up in a cute kit and have it shipped to your door!

  • one year money back guarantee
  • high quality products
  • elegant and clean packaging
  • natural and scientific ingredients
  • quick and prompt shipping worldwide (personal best time is four business days)
  • cons

    • Only available online (meaning stores will basically be closed in 2020 anyway)
    • a bit more expensive than normal products
    • only fedex priority shipping available to canada – more expensive
    • difficult to buy individual products due to deep discounts for product bundles
    • Here are some of my original exposed skin care photos:

I bought the basic kit (5 pieces) and the probiotic complex:

okay, that’s nice and all, but how is endless sea exposure different from other online acne companies? let’s take a look at some of the differences…

How is caring for exposed skin different?

      unconditional 1-year money-back guarantee

In my opinion, this is the biggest difference in caring for exposed skin. no other competitor in the industry comes close to offering a similar guarantee.

There are many 30-day and even 3-month money-back guarantees, but the only company that offers a 365-day guarantee is the only company that does.

why is it so important? the fact that you can get a refund within a year is not the important point here. Every time a company offers any type of guarantee, it expresses its confidence in the ability of its product to deliver results and satisfy customers.

in other words, only companies with great products will offer guarantees because they know that only a small portion of their customers will want refunds.

on the other hand, a company with poor quality products cannot afford such a guarantee because a higher percentage of its customers will be dissatisfied.

in reality, exposed is using their money back guarantee to tell customers that their products are truly top of the line and better than their competitors.

I personally have never used the money back guarantee because the products on display have always worked for me to some degree. I find them more effective than typical grocery store brands, but keep in mind that they don’t work miracles.

clear skin in 30 days guaranteed

Whenever you hear about some kind of “clear skin” or “acne free” guarantee, take it with a grain of salt. Over the years, I have come across hundreds of testimonials about products that claim to cure acne in 3 days, 7 days, 30 days, etc.

I am a firm believer that there is no universal way to predict the amount of time it takes for acne to get better – people have different levels of acne with different complications in different situations. With so many underlying variables, it’s impossible to say that any one product can cure acne in x days.

this look is more of a marketing ploy for you to try exposed skin care for 30 days and see if it helps your acne. While you should be skeptical of claims like this, it’s another sign from those exposed that they have confidence in your products. Personally, I did not get “clear skin” in 30 days, but I was still quite satisfied with the effectiveness of the products.

      natural ingredients

The products on display contain multiple natural ingredients intended to remedy acne-prone skin. these ingredients include:

      • green tea extract – provides antioxidants
      • passion flower extract – reduces inflammation
      • sage extract – detoxifies the skin
      • tea tree oil – promotes skin regeneration
      • pro-vitamin b5 – regulates oil production
      • exposed is clearly a company that takes its business seriously: its efforts to incorporate natural ingredients in addition to conventional agents like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are a testament to the research and dedication behind its products.

While it’s hard to say whether the natural ingredients are making a significant contribution, I have no doubt that the products on display are of a much higher caliber than most other things I’ve tried.

        exposed skin care website

I can’t help but put this one on the list too. exposed has an amazing website that contains a wealth of information on acne treatment.

There are articles on everything from acne explanations to the effects of stress on acne and even natural acne remedies you can do at home.

To me, this really says something about the people you’re exposed to: They’re not only interested in selling you products, but they also want to provide you with useful acne treatment information. Much like money-back guarantees, this part makes me feel better about buying featured products.

caring for exposed skin is definitely a hidden gold mine for acne sufferers. It’s a shame because the offers exposed above average for the same price range as its competitors like proactiv.

Also keep in mind that online products are a bit more expensive and typically come in smaller quantities than grocery brands.

I would recommend anyone with low to moderate acne to try the exposed 5 piece starter kit. This will get you started with a decent cleanser, toner, and two forms of acne treatment. hey, it even comes with a special microderm cloth!

exposed skin care facial cleanser review

exposed skin care facial cleanser combines high-quality, natural ingredients in a comfortable, clean gel-based product.

I love the smoothness of this cleanser because it’s smooth and glides on my skin easily. If you’ve used it before, you know what I’m talking about! All in all, this cleanser has an amazing texture and works wonders for cleansing the skin.

This is the cleanser I currently use as part of my acne regimen. i use it because my face feels very clean and hydrated afterwards. That’s right, I feel hydrated after using this cleanser! this is because the cleanser was designed to be ph balanced and free of irritating ingredients.

        • skin feels super clean and hydrated
        • carefully selected high-quality ingredients: a mix of nature and science!
        • smooth and glides over face smoothly
        • cons

          • a bit expensive compared to common cleaners
          • lid could be better designed to allow easier flow of cleaner
          • very cost prohibitive to buy this cleaner individually – much cheaper to buy products in kits
          • this is what the exhibition has to say about your product:

“The first step to lightening the skin is to cleanse the skin. Exposed Face Cleanser is a rich, yet gentle face wash that is soap-free, non-comedogenic, and hypoallergenic. is packed with skin-brightening ingredients, including a special formulation of alpha & beta hydroxy acids and olive leaf extract. It removes oil and dirt from the face while penetrating the pores to kill acne-causing bacteria and maintain the skin’s lipid layer. It does not contain strong, irritating detergents such as lauryl and laureth sulfates and is an important step in the treatment system for exposed acne.”

            1.0% Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is a popular acne treatment ingredient due to its ability to penetrate the oily layers of the skin and unclog pores. a beta-hydroxy acid, it is extracted from willow bark and can be quite effective as a chemical exfoliant.

Salicylic acid helps exfoliate dead skin cells clogged in pores, allowing the inflamed pore to heal and shrink to its normal size. Due to its chemical structure, salicylic acid can penetrate deep into the lipid layers of the skin where water-soluble substances cannot reach.

            pro-vitamin b5

Also known as pantothenic acid, it is one of the eight b vitamins and is necessary for the healthy functioning of the skin, hair, eyes, and liver. vitamin b5 is known to promote skin hydration and regeneration for a healthy skin tone.

            sage extract

Sage is a type of herb generally used in medicine and recognized for its healing powers. there are claims that sage can heal scars and promote skin regeneration. sage is a natural ingredient (not chemically modified) that also has antioxidant properties.

This is a great facial cleanser for everyone. it cleanses the skin but does not dry it out and contains an excellent blend of natural and scientific ingredients. It’s definitely worth it in my opinion, but I would highly recommend buying it as part of the bundled kit because it’s more effective.

be careful how much you use; I think a smaller amount works here. Squeeze some cleaner onto your hand. gently rub it on the forehead and then along the cheeks and neck. massage into skin for 30-60 seconds and rinse thoroughly.

if desired, you can also use the exposed derm-x cloth to wipe off the cleanser. This is very effective at gently exfoliating the skin and leaving your face feeling absolutely refreshed!

Lastly, in my experience, one bottle will not last you 60 days (although the claims made are for a 60-day supply). When used conservatively and effectively, this cleanser should last around 1.5 months (45 days). however, I use it day and night, so depending on your situation this may be different.

exposed skin care lightening toner review

Next, I take a look at the exposed cleansing toner that is included in all exposed kits. Weighing in at 4.0 oz and with active ingredients salicylic acid, green tea extract and passion flower, it packs a double whammy for blackheads and clears clogged pores – the care toner for exposed skin!

            • gentle and soothing for problematic skin
            • natural extracts to balance skin oiliness
            • leaves skin clean for further treatment
            • cons

              • doesn’t last long (finished bottle before cleanser and treatments)
              • cap design could be improved to allow easier liquid flow
              • slightly difficult to use with cotton balls
              • Packaged in a container identical to the facial cleanser, the exposed clarifying toner is intended to remedy problematic skin through natural extracts and remove dirt and oil.

I’m a big fan of this toner for 3 reasons: it’s gentle and soothing on the skin, it contains high-quality ingredients that rejuvenate the skin layer, and it does an excellent job of removing dirt to prepare the skin for further treatment.

My only concern is that the pot won’t last long if you’re like me and use toners day and night. I feel this product is a bit less cost effective and I would not recommend it as a standalone product. however, together with the exposed kit it is not a bad choice.

                salicylic acid

One of the two main ingredients in anti-acne products, salicylic acid belongs to the beta-hydroxy acid family and is used to penetrate the lipid layer of the skin to promote exfoliation of skin cells. skin from the inside.

                green tea extract

Green tea has long been used as an herbal remedy with all sorts of health benefits, from longevity to cancer prevention. for acne purposes. green tea is rich in antioxidants such as polyphenols that are necessary for good health.

In particular, antioxidants “balance” or “neutralize” free radicals and pro-oxidant molecules in our bodies. Scientific research shows that free radical molecules destroy cell structures and cause damage in the body, eventually leading to acne formation as well as other diseases.

                passion flower

Another herbal extract, passion flower possesses powerful anti-inflammatory properties that soothe irritated and acne-prone skin. it has been found to be effective in reducing redness and irritation normally found in acne-prone skin.

as I said in the introduction, the deexposed lightening toner is a decent toner and offers good value when purchased in conjunction with a deexposed kit.

due to the low volume of toner and the availability of cheaper but effective competitors, I would not recommend this toner as a standalone purchase. i feel you can get more value out of a regular toner like thayers witch hazel.

I find it difficult to pour this toner onto cotton balls due to the opaque packaging. if possible, pour the toner into a transparent transparent container with a small opening. this makes it easy to pour onto cotton balls and prevents over-pouring and waste.

acne treatment serum review for exposed skin care

This is a product that I really wish someone had told me about when I started developing facial acne. It would have saved me a long journey of shame, low self-esteem, and a bunch of ineffective acne products.

                • super effective formula! it really does wonders for mild to moderate acne sufferers.
                • easy to apply and absorbed into the skin in a matter of minutes
                • cost effective when purchased with exposed kit
                • cons

                  • Depending on your skin type and whether you have used benzoyl peroxide products in the past, you may experience dry or flaky skin. if this is the case, I recommend using this less often and/or applying a moisturizer 10-15 minutes before applying the serum.
                  • expensive as a stand-alone product from the exposed website
                  • weird smell – could be green tea extract or azelaic acid, not a big deal though

Available only online, Exposed Acne Treatment Serum is a 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide active treatment product that provides a highly effective solution for all types of acne. My personal experience with this product has been just amazing!

after using this product regularly for a few weeks, i can really see the difference it makes in my skin. large pimples shrink, smaller ones usually disappear, redness is reduced, and patchy skin begins to improve.

Because it’s based on benzoyl peroxide, I was initially concerned about having dry skin. However, i find that it dries less than typical bp products, which means there is less need for moisturizer. I still use it today to treat areas around the jawline, cheeks, and forehead.

The acne treatment serum comes as a white paste that disappears when applied to the skin. It does have a rather strange odor which may be caused by the active ingredients, but it’s not a big concern. I also like that the paste feels fresh and is easy to apply.

                    2.5% benzoyl peroxide

This is the key ingredient in most acne products today due to its ability to kill the p.acnes bacteria that causes acne.

However, this usually comes at the cost of drying out the skin cells due to the chemical process of oxidation. this is usually canceled with the use of a moisturizer.

I have found that exposed acne treatment serum dries much less than other 2.5% benzoyl peroxide products. this may be a result of the formulation of the product.

                    green tea extract

Green tea has long been used as an herbal remedy with all sorts of health benefits, from longevity to cancer prevention. for acne purposes. green tea is rich in antioxidants such as polyphenols that are necessary for good health.

In particular, antioxidants “balance” or “neutralize” free radicals and pro-oxidant molecules in our bodies. Scientific research shows that free radical molecules destroy cell structures and cause damage in the body, eventually leading to acne formation as well as other diseases.

                    azelaic acid

This dicarboxylic acid is often prescribed by doctors for the treatment of acne. It specifically targets the p.acnes bacteria and may cause mild dryness or irritation. for more information, see this medline plus link.

As an acne sufferer for 8 years and counting, I’ve tried all kinds of products and heard all kinds of explanations and remedies marketed by corporations that sell acne products. it’s hard to find great products that work effectively without drying out your skin, are hassle-free, and won’t break your bank account.

what i’m trying to say is that exposure acne treatment serum is one of those great products that actually works. having said that, it is not a miracle worker and your acne will not disappear overnight.

However, I am confident that using this product as part of a comprehensive skin care regimen (which also includes eating right!) will dramatically improve your acne condition. I continue to use this product and still marvel at how quickly and effectively it can improve my skin.

I like to apply the cream little by little instead of smearing it all over my face. Squeeze small dabs onto your finger and apply to affected areas in gentle circular motions until cream disappears and is evenly smooth.

If you want to cover the entire face, start with the forehead and jaw area because they tend to absorb the cream better and are less sensitive to benzoyl peroxide. finish with the cheeks and be sure to avoid the areas under the eyes! remember to be patient and let your skin absorb the cream.

I don’t like applying moisturizer afterwards, but if it really bothers you, use this product every other day and on the days you don’t use it, apply a moisturizer or oil to keep your skin hydrated.

review of derm-x cloth for care of exposed skin

the derm-x cloth included in each exposed skin care kit.

As a long-time user, I must say that this is definitely not an ordinary cloth! Dermatologist-approved, the derm-x cloth is made from a special material and features tiny flakes of microfiber to help with exfoliation in a process known as microdermabrasion.

those microfibers hang off the surface of the cloth to trap more dirt and oil from your skin! just take a look at the photos below to see the microfibers I’m talking about.

In addition to being an excellent exfoliator, the stated claims that using your derm-x cloth can “improve skin tone, reduce blemishes…and help with skin discoloration, sun damage, and even with minor scars.” It is also useful for removing blackheads and blackheads as it cleanses the face properly and gently removes dead skin cells, cosmetics, grease, and dirt.

The derm-x deposed cloth is a unique, high-quality cloth intended to aid the natural exfoliation of skin cells. it’s a great companion product to use with facial cleansers and exfoliating products.

you can really feel the difference in the material used and the special microdermabrasion grooves in the fabric.

Although this product is available individually on the exposed website for $9.95, I highly recommend purchasing an exposed kit to benefit from significant cost savings.

If you use a cloth to wash your face regularly, I recommend using the derm-x cloth every other day right after applying a facial cleanser.

Rinse the cloth under warm water and gently wipe it over the face until cleanser is clean. be careful not to rub too hard as this can cause skin irritation and damage.

Also, follow the instructions on the cloth and wash it with clothes every 2 weeks or so. When used regularly, the derm-x cloth can greatly improve skin tone and promote acne-free skin.
