Appearance doesn’t matter much when it comes to a car seat, of course safety is the number one priority. But the cybex cloud z i-size car seat looks so good we have to mention it. It’s so stylishly designed you can’t stop commenting on how clever it looks (proud car parents will definitely approve), plus it comes in a variety of colors so you can match it to your vehicle’s upholstery if you choose. .
but what we like best about this car seat is the fact that it is compatible with many different stroller frames using adapters (these must be purchased separately) to create a travel system, and out of the car , the seat can be reclined back so that your baby can lie almost flat. This is the recommended position for newborns to support healthy spinal and lung development and to ensure optimal breathing, so this is a truly standout feature that sets this car seat apart from others. If your baby falls asleep in the car, you can easily move him to the stroller and let the nap continue, knowing that he is comfortable and safe in an ergonomic lying position.

Another standout feature of this car seat, according to our tester, is its intuitive use, which isn’t always the case with car seats. Quite often, you can end up feeling like you need an engineering degree to operate a car seat, and that can be even more of a problem if other family members are likely to use it in your car from time to time. no problem with this one!
but our favorite feature, besides the recline mode, is the swivel base, which allows you to rotate the seat to face the door side of the car, making it a breeze to get your little one in and out of the car . Until you’ve used a car seat with a swivel base, it’s hard to contemplate how much easier to use than car seats with ‘fixed’ bases. Gone are the days of fighting a squirming child in a car seat while risking straining your back – simply rotate the seat to face you without straining in the seat. it also means there’s no more awkward reaching around your child to buckle the car seat.
Our tester also commented on the safety features (opens in a new tab) on this car seat, but noted that it was easy to forget to turn them all on. “It has an energy-absorbing frame and additional pop-up arms to increase your child’s safety in a side-impact collision,” Hanna says. “just make sure you don’t forget to take them out.”
It’s also worth noting that this is an isize seat, which means it meets or exceeds the latest European safety standards for car seats (ECE R129). eventually the old regulation (r44) will be phased out (both are running simultaneously at the moment) meaning all car seats sold will be i size seats.
so if you’re buying this seat for your first baby and thinking about reusing it for another baby in the next few years, you can be sure it will meet the necessary safety standards.

however, you should verify that this seat is compatible with your vehicle before purchasing. That’s because not all isize car seats will fit all vehicles. Midsize seats, unlike seats that adhere to older car seat safety standards, also have to pass a side impact test. that simply means they’ve been through more rigorous testing than non-full-size seats.
value for money
There’s no denying it; This is an expensive car seat, especially when you consider that you must purchase the base separately as an added expense. But we think it’s the kind of baby gear you’ll ultimately be so glad you bought, even if the price makes you think twice at first. The base is an extra £185, which is a pretty hefty extra cost, but this seat can be used until your baby is two, adding to its overall value.
Also, it’s worth noting that the base can also be used with the cybex sirona car seat, which can be used until your child is four years old. so if you opt for that seat once your child has outgrown this one, you won’t need to purchase an additional base. in fact, you’ll get another two years of use out of this foundation. if by then, you might be thinking of having another child, you can obviously go back to using the base.
despite the price, our reviewer wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this car seat to her friends. “cybex cloud z is perfect for people who want a car seat that looks stylish and is packed with safety features,” she says. “Not only is the car seat very easy to get in and out of the car, but it also allows you to move your baby in and out of the car more easily than any other car seat on the market.”
