My experience with amla powder is not new. in my childhood, my mom used to apply amla, shikakai and hibiscus hair mask to my hair. I have thick and strong hair, although a little on the dry side. my scalp is sensitive with dandruff problems. i got this ready made amla powder because i don’t have time to grind amla powder even though i want to be chemical free. I feel these natural ingredients improve the health of your hair in the long run than any spa or hair mask. banjara amla powder is a quick mix to use. It has amla powder with the smell of amla intact, therefore no artificial fragrance is added. one should be careful while using it as amla powder is dry and tends to disperse. Spread out a large sheet of newspaper before you start making a hair compress with this amla powder.
Initially, to test it a couple of times, I used it by itself. i mixed it with hot water and applied it to my scalp. Amla powder does not deeply condition or soften hair, so applying it to strands of hair is of no use. I apply it to the roots to impart strength and nourishment to my strands. i leave it on for 45 minutes and wash with any herbal or sulfate-free shampoo. what did i notice during these uses? my hair had immense volume and bounce and my scalp felt so light. It got rid of oil from the roots and scalp and removed build up from my product. but my hair felt dry and i had to follow up with a serum. with two uses, my itchy scalp seemed to lessen. with a few more, I saw my hair loss reduce considerably.
It also claims to prevent premature graying of the hair. a little anecdote that I would tell you. since i stay in a hostel, me and my friends stay up quite late at night studying or watching movies. within a couple of months some of my friends started getting gray hair. none of them had genetically premature graying tendencies. the horrible sleep pattern and lifestyle hit hard. it set off alarm bells for me and i decided to change my lifestyle before my hair started to go gray. this amla powder is just another step in the direction of keeping my hair natural. As with any natural ingredient, it takes some time to show results.
